Underlife and Writing Instructions

Summary:
Underlife is defined as the way one lives, but is really not expected from them. There are three categories of underlife, which lay down on social interactions. The first one involves a person's identity. This is referring to the way one looks based on clothes, or features. It also refers to their history, and the role they take regarding the groups we believe they belong to. The second assumption about social interactions is information games. This is referred to the features and characteristics that the person shows. Lastly, there is organizational roles. This is described as the way someone is able to work, and portrait herself/himself at an organization. The truth is that people are different, and they don't follow what is expected from them.
When put in a writing class, students usually do what is called a "contained" form of underline, which consists of four behaviors. First, students use classroom material as a form of entertainment. Second, they tend to take the role they are asked to take during class time. Third, accepting what is happening in the classroom. Lastly, the students get distracted, and loose their total focus toward the class activities. The point of this activities is to get away from the demands of the classrooms, and participate more in class.
On the other hand, what teachers do in a writing class is called a "disruptive" form of underlife. What they want is for the students to accept that they are different, and to simply be themselves. Their goal is to make students believe that they are unique. Teachers want for them to show their true identities, and to use their own voice. This is done in order to completely express themselves through their writing.
Underlife is defined as a behavior that doesnt fulfill the role someone is supposed to have. One should be able "to produce new knowledge, new action, and new roles" (pg. 152). All that is required for someone do to this is to truly express your own thoughts, and know that you're unique and different from the rest.
Synthesis:
Underlife means behaving differently that what is expected from you. In other words, doing something that doesn't correspond to the role you're actually supposed to take. For example, being a girl who likes blue, or being a boy who likes pink. Whatever the case may be, I believe that underlife is really important because it symbolises that people are free to behave anyway without them following a certain role.
We all have an image of the different roles certain people have to take. For example, ever since we were little, we have been taught that the dad is the one who goes out to work, while the mom stays home to cook and take care of the kids. Why? That's just the way we were raised, and we have learned to accept it through time. But what if one day everything was different? What if instead, the dad stayed home while the mom went out to work? I believe that this is a way of reveling yourself, because you're expressing who you really are by your actions. We shouldnt be tight up with the idea that we have to be a certain way just because "we're supposed to". I believe that no matter in what category you fall under, you should feel free to express yourself and do what what you want.
Another le uplace where we can clearly see underlife is at school. Our teachers expect us to our work and learn. In other words, they want us to be good students. But we know that that never really happens. Something that I always see is peopsing their phones in class. Im not even going to lie, even I do this sometimes. Teachers don't expect us to do this, but we still do it no matter what. Why? We know that not because someone wants for us to behave a certain way, we're going to do it. I believe that we are free to act the way we want to without thinking that there is a certain role that we have to follow.
I don't completely agree that in a writing class, everyone-students and teachers- should think of themselves as writers. I think it's nice that the teachers try and put us in the same level as themselves, but they shouldn't do it for several reasons. I think teachers can consider themselves writers because they're good at it, and they actually like to write. On the other hand, not all students are good at writing, and honestly, the only reason they do it is because they don't want to fail. Another reason why I don't think students should be given the same title as their teachers is because they have worked hard to get where they are right now, and it wouldn't be fair to have the same label as someone who doesn't give a s***. I don't believe teachers and students should be considered to be equal. I don't consider teachers and students should take the same role, but it's actually nice of them to try to.
People have certain roles they're supposed to follow. I think it's nice that many actually break that rule, and behave in a different manner.
