Summary:
In order to learn how to write appropriately, one must practice this skill many times. When writing, it is essential for the students to speak in using their own language. Not only that, but they must also write in a way that both professors and the community will understand. It is important to understand that when writing, one is supposed to take the role of an authority or discourse. This means that one needs to be an expert on the topic, and understand what is happening. There may be times when students begin writing their essays as if they were an authority, but they don't complete it successfully. The truth is that to be a good writer, they must be specialized on the topic. Not only that, but they must also be comfortable and familiar with the topic and the audience. Giving your own opinion and voice demonstrate that you have created new ideas, and that's what learning is all about.
Synthesis:
Honestly, I disagree with this. I don't believe that one has to be completely knowledgeable on a topic in order to write about it. It is truth that they must have some kind of understanding on the topic, but I don't understand why they must write as if they were an authority. If you write something, you're doing it in order to express your opinion, not to show others that you are smart and that you're an expert on it.
I agree with the fact that by writing one learns. For example, if I write 3 rhetorical essays, I will learn what it's structure and it's purpose are (Let me just make it clear that my intention is not to write 3 rhetorical essays, I was just giving an example). By practicing, one will learn from it, and eventually become better at it. I also agree that learning is about being unique and creating new ideas. This is because we learn better by being creative, and coming up with our own thoughts and opinions. I believe that writing is about expressing your own opinions, and not trying to sound professional and experienced.
